PC blew up, power surge?

Hello,

Could a power surge/spike caused by an electrician messing with the wiring in the building where I live cause my PC to blow up? Electrician was doing some heavy rewiring and cut the power before warning me, and my machine caught on fire suddenly and burnt out. He's saying this could not have been caused by anything he did. Seems too much of a coincidence to me.

I didn't find the right solution from the internet.
