All those cars were plentiful back then and it was no big deal to chop them about. Most are scarce now and some quite collectible so unlikely to get the treatment ever again.

'Twas the UK version of hot-rodding and some of it was awesome and some of it err.... wasn't! One thing though, there were probably more one-off mods being executed then than in the more recent 'Max Power' era. Outside of arches for Minis and Escorts and rear window louvres and universal pedestal boot spoilers etc. most bodywork was from scratch whereas much of the recent stuff uses off-the-shelf kits.

That Mk.III Cortina above was a well-known, magazine featured car.

I'd far rather walk around a show full of those sort of cars than look at lines of identikit Escorts Mexicos that daren't deviate from the accepted 'way' in case their investment potential is jeopardised.

Right, I'm off to graft a pair of 120Y tail lights onto an Escort. Haters gonna hate.

With some of those mods, is it any wonder BIVA is being applied? :-)
Ah, in 20 year's time, somebody will say the same thing about Euro/JDM styling (and I still can't tell the difference).
