If I could have one car back it would have to be my MK4 escort . Suspect previous owner had added more than just the ccossie alloys cus it drove like it was on rails and felt alot quicker than the 1.6L it was meant to be .

For me it had to be my first 1990 MK2 Golf GTI 8v.... This was an allrounder and it went like stink. It was just as well the point system wasn't in place years ago.... £80 and on your way again, Oh the good old days..This was the car that started the whole Dub thing for me.....

Always been VW and have driven polos for almost 15 years, with a brief 18 month visit to the dark side with two diesel 106s. Brilliant wee cars, reliable and as Arkwright in Open All Hours said, they could go the whole way on half a pint, but fast moving corrosion got both of them. So back to VW again and Concorde the 97 Polo is out again, and he is possibly the best car I ever owned. Have owned him for ten years and have covered almost 100k miles (111k on the clock) in all weathers and with all manners of loads in the back from kids to body panels to band gear and from the tip of Scotland to the bottom of England (fully loaded again) and all over the South. The only trouble is the occasional hiccup or two from crappy plug leads!
Needs must when the devil vomits into your kettle.

Best car? For me it has to be my 98 Xsara TD. Not stylish but comfortable, handled ok, but best of all, ultra reliable. I bought it new, drove it hard all its life and retired it almost 2 yrs ago at 246000 miles, engine and turbo untouched and going great.

Still have it in a shed, interiorl like new,but now a bit rusty underneath. Should sell it but it's a nicer driver than its replacement. I bought an Octavia but the ride is harsh, terrible road noise, and the heater is poor in cold weather .....economical though.

Rust free, early Xsara from the south of England, simple electronics.... the idea appeals.

Next best has to be the Cav Turbo, I use it each Summer, legally of course... "honest Officer" .
