So what has been your roughest bit of work to get something going?

(This is an amnesty so fess up!)

Mine has to be cutting a hole in the bottom of a Cav gearbox so I could change the clutch without taking the box out. Riveted a plate on the bottom when I was finished and it looked like a real professional job lol.

I took disc of bug a before (bearing set up be same as rear drums in mk2 golf polo etc) to discover that some numpty before me had the inner bearing of a later bug fitted.............. ie the centre bore was too bug so the disc/hub was resting entirly on outer bearing! I'd been driving it for about 2years or more at that stage.

Also discovered someone saw fit to weld a broken track rod end on it!

Don't no if this counts as butchery or as being tight with the money my van failed MOT on two bold tyres so yestardy I went and fitted a set of brand new bridgestone studless snow tyres that I bought after the bad winter 2 years ago the tyre wall was 5mm higher and I have at least another 5mm tread by the lookes of it so it is very tight in the arches fronts are just rubing on full lock and the back arch liners are maby 3mm clearance so it is all crammed in

And I no their is a difference in tyre compound so I'll probaly have the tyres burnt off by the time this winter comes but to be honest they have been lying around doing nothing anyway
