Gas dampers Vs Oil filled

Pugly

So work has finally started on the Polo. I want a good, reliable daily retro for the winter that I'm not going to be stuck outside in the snow working at. I've sourced all the fiddly bits of trim etc. that were missing and replaced them, done a full service, fitted new brakes all round and fitted a sound system, decent CD player, speakers up front in the dash, 6x9s in the rear along with the original 6x4s and a 12" sub and amp (hey, you need your beats!).

Anyway, the ride quality is like sitting on a bouncy castle with a bottle of vodka in you so I've decided to fit 4 new dampers.

I originally went in to order 4 Kayaba gas shocks, I know from using them in other cars that they ride well but the dude in the motor factors told me to go for oil as he said gas would last 2-3 years but oil filled would last 7-8 and there wouldn't be that much of a difference in ride quality as it is such a light car (weighs in at 780kg with sound system and tools in the back).

So what would you go for and why?

Price isn't really an issue as there's only £20 difference on the full set of 4.

id go for the gas ones every time, they both have oil but the gas shocks are always an improvment over the oil , thats a decent make too :)
